Tyneside CAZ compliance support grants offered
Applications have opened for grants for operators to upgrade vehicles that do not comply with the Tyneside Clean Air Zone (CAZ) which will see introduction of a £50 daily charge for non-Euro VI examples on 30 January.
Up to £16,000 per vehicle is available to go towards achieving compliance via replacement or retrofit. In what is thought to be a first for CAZs in England, two finance providers have been appointed to handle distribution of such funding from Newcastle City Council. They will also offer low interest, finance arrangements, using the funding, to help purchase replacement vehicles.
