Arriva pulls out of Milton Keynes ZEBRA project as electric power deal falls through

Arriva has withdrawn from its government- funded Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) project in Milton Keynes which would have seen 56 battery-electric buses running in the city, following the investment arrangement to deliver the scheme falling through.

The bid, led by Milton Keynes City Council (MKCC), was one of five funded via the DfT’s ZEBRA’s fast-track avenue Arriva says that the work had “several challenges and complexities in its structure.” it claims it had remained “open and transparent” with MKCC around those difficulties, despite “working tirelessly to find a sustainable solution”.
