First Bus to end Southampton operations as Go-Ahead’s Bluestar set to move in
First Bus has announced that it is to withdraw its City Red operations in Southampton on 19 February 2023. The bus operator cited lower customer numbers since the Covid-19 pandemic, changes in travel patterns, rising costs and “an ultra-competitive city market”.
One of the other bus operators in Southampton, Go-Ahead owned Go South Coast (GSC), said its Bluestar subsidiary was ready to move in with “very similar” levels of service on routes currently operated by First Bus.
