New tool models impacts of different measures on reducing traffic
Dr Crispin Cooper, Lecturer at the School of Computer Science & Informatics at Cardiff University, told the Summit about a new open source multi-option tool to model the impacts of different policy interventions in reducing traffic levels, developed for think tank and charity Green Alliance.
The described the tool as “an economic model bases on the elasticity of demand”. It provides predicted outcomes on behaviour change using different combinations of transport interventions. These included changes to fares on public transport, the introduction of road user charges and measures to support walking and cycling.
