Public transport schemes behaviour change projects, says Minister

Schemes to enhance public transport should be treated as behaviour change projects, Welsh deputy climate change minister Lee Waters has said. Transport for Wales is currently developing a behaviour change strategy.

Waters was asked at a Transport Focus board meeting, held in Cardiff, why the Welsh Government’s bus reform proposals had not referred to consultation with passengers. Waters said TfW had been working with local authorities and operators in North Wales, looking at data, where passenger flows are likely to go and how networks should be designed. “The extent to which they’ve interrogated, beyond the data, passenger desires, I’m not certain about.”
