Scottish Government affirms commitment to rail and road schemes
The Scottish Government has said it is committed to investing in road and rail capital schemes, despite high inflation and the prospect of a reduced funding allocation from the Treasury.
Tom Arthur, the SNP minister for public finance, planning and community wealth, said the level of inflation in recent months was unprecedented in modern times. “That, combined with increases in delivery times for materials due to the combined effects of Covid, Brexit and the illegal war in Ukraine, is placing significant pressure on budgets and the delivery of infrastructure projects across the country,” he said.
