McGills start work on brand revival after buying First Bus Scotland East 200-vehicle operations

Significant plans for investment at the former First Scotland East bus operation have been revealed by new owners McGill’s Group, Scotland’s largest independent and fastest growing bus company, with director brothers James and Sandy Easdale, saying an updated fleet is a “key priority,” including zero-emission buses.

The brothers believe that local management by the independent company will be better empowered to make decisions and deliver their vision of “growth and profitability” for the operation. It involves depots at Balfron, Bannockburn, Larbert and Livingston with around 550 staff and over 200 vehicles. The Bright Bus Tour open-top operation in Edinburgh were included in the sale. The McGills business portfolio includes construction and property as well as transport.
