Government backs carbon capture projects

New financial support for British carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) projects announced in the budget have drawn contrasting responses from those sceptical of how close to implementation this technology is, and if it is an excuse for not taking more direct action against carbon-hungry sectors like transport, or whether it could be a game changer to achieving net zero and the UK’s ambition to bolster its domestic energy supply.
