Unions resume strike action but RMT welcomes ‘goodwill’ from talks with new minister Trevelyan

The three rail unions have resumed strike action following the pause to mark the Queen’s death. A solution to the dispute in the ongoing dispute over pay, job security and safety, which began in June (LTT 1 June) did not appear close as RMT began with another 24-hour strike on 1 October.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “We want a settlement to these disputes where our members and their families can get a square deal. And we will not rest until we get a satisfactory outcome.”
